Introduction

I adapted the original recipe to make a healthier version. I adapted the original recipe to make a healthier version.

Ingredients

    Splenda Baking Blend-1 cup
    Whole Wheat Flour-3 cups
    Unsweetened Applesauce-1 cup
    Eggwhites-6
    Large Box Sugar Free Instant Vanilla Pudding
    Vanilla Extract-1/2 tsp
    Baking Soda-1/2 tsp
    Baking Powder-1 1/2 tsp
    Salt-1/2 tsp
    Cinnamon-2 tsp

Directions

You need to start with an Amish Friendship Bread Starter,
Day 1: get starter in plastic bag and squish!
Day 2-4 same
Day 5: Add 1 cup each flour, milk, 1/2 cup Splenda Baking Blend and squish
Day 6-9 squish
Day 10: Empty out bag into mixing bowl. Add 1 cup each milk, flour, and 1/2 cup Splenda Baking Blend, stir. Seperate out 4 one cup servings into 4 seperate plastic baggies. Put the date on it, and give to friends along with the recipe! (Don't forget to keep one for yourself).

To the leftover batter in the bowl, add: flour, baking powder, baking soda, vanilla, cinnamon, box of instant pudding, milk, eggs, splenda, applesauce and salt. Mix with wisk, then pour into 2 loaf size baking pans that have been sprayed with Pam.

Bake at 325 degrees for about an hour.

Options:
Sprinkle cinnamon/splenda mix on top!
Use different flavors of pudding to change the flavor
Add raisins or chopped nuts. (Don't forget to add the nutritional information for these)

This recipe will make 2 loaves.

    Where do you get an amish friendship bread starter????? I haven't made this in years, and don't know of anyone that has! Is there a recipe for the starter??? I would like to try this version. - 7/27/09
