Introduction

I make this all the time over beans when we host parties and everyone loves it! It's made with only natural ingredients, and no refined sweeteners. I make this all the time over beans when we host parties and everyone loves it! It's made with only natural ingredients, and no refined sweeteners.

Ingredients

    2 cans tomato puree
    1 Tbsp olive oil
    1 very small yellow onion
    1 clove garlic
    1 tsp chili powder
    pinch cayenne
    1 Tb worchestershire sauce (vegetarian, if desired)
    1 1/2 Tb soy sauce/tamari sauce
    1 Tbsp dry mustard
    1 tsp smoked paprika
    3 tbsp honey
    2 tbsp molasses
    1/3 cup vinegar

Directions

Heat the oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic, cover, and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in the chili powder and cayenne. Add the tomato puree, and remaining sauce ingredients. Reduce the heat to low and simmer until slightly reduced, about 15 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
