Number of Servings: 24


    Dry active yeast- 2 envelopes
    warm water-2 cups
    sugar-1/2 cup
    shortening-1/2 cup
    salt-1 teaspoon
    flour-4 1/2 cups


Dissolve yeast in warm water and let stand for 10 minutes. Blend in sugar, salt, shortening and flour. Knead well until dough is elastic and smooth, I use a mixer for 10 minutes. Dough will be sticky.Place dough in a large glass or crockery bowl and cover with a towel. Allow to raise for 1 hour.
Spray 2 muffin tins with copoking spray and divide dough into 24 equal pieces. Roll each piece of dough into a ball and place in muffin cup. Allow dough to raise for 2 hours or until double in size.
Bake at 375 degrees for about 20 minutes or until golden brown.
Makes 24 rolls. If needed they freeze very well too.
