    1 stick butter
    2 cups sugar
    6 eggs
    4 cups flour
    2 tsp baking powder
    3 tsp anise flavoring
    1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts)
    1 cup confectioners sugar


Melt butter. Add sugar and eggs, beat well. Add drry ingredients gradually. Blend in anise and nuts. Spread on lg. greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 for 12 min. Cut in thirds lengthwise or diagonally. Put back on sheet on its side and toast each side for 5-10 minutes longer. While Baking, mix conf. sugar and water to make spreadable. While cookies are still hot, spread with icing Cut cookies into pieces when cool
