Ingredients
-
Cider Vinegar, 1 tbsp
Annie's Naturals Balsamic Vinaigrette Dressing, 2 Tbsp
*Hot Sauce, Tapatio, 5 tsp (to taste)
Lime Juice, 1 lime yields
Yellow Mustard, 1 tsp (to taste)
*Lea & Perrins Worcester Sauce, Vegan, 1 tsp
Red Pepper flakes, 2 tbsp
Water, tap, 1/4 cup
Tofu, extra firm, 2 blocks or 794 grams
Directions
Mix all ingredients minus the tofu. Whisk to incorporate. If you don't have balsamic, soy sauce is a great replacement.
Cut each block of tofu into slices (about five per block) depending on thickness. Blot each slice until most of the water is absorbed (see tip below). Marinate in spicy mix for as long as possible (an hour will work, ten minutes in a pinch).
Arrange slices on a baking sheet and pu in preheated oven (425 degrees) for 15 minutes. Then broil until edges are hardened a little (about five minutes). Flip slices over, broil for another five.
Delish right out of the oven on a soft sandwich roll or the next day after refrigeration (my fave - texture is perfect)
TIP - for the best texture, slice tofu the night before and place in freezer, wrapped in wax paper. Thaw the next morning, marinate and then bake. The texture will be chewy and perfect for sandwiches or snacking.
