Ingredients

    1 head, large (about 5-1/2" dia) Cabbage, red, fresh, finely chopped
    2 medium Apples, fresh, (cored & thinly sliced, skin on
    8 - 10 Whole cloves
    2 tbsp red wine vinegar
    6 fl oz Red Wine
    3 tsp Granulated Sugar
    2 tbsp. white flour
    1 tbsp Butter, unsalted

Directions

In large pot, add butter, wine vinegar and 4 oz wine.
Add shredded cabbage, sliced apples, cloves & sugar. Cook covered for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
If liquid seems be be getting low, add another 2 oz. of red wine. Once ready sprinkle flour a little at a time and stir in, as this will help to thicken the juices. Ready to serve. Goes great with Schnitzel or European sausages or as a side dish to any meat dish. Makes 8 - 1 cup servings
