    1 c flour (1/2 whole wheat is really nice, but calculations are for white only)
    1/3 c brown sugar
    1 T baking powder
    1 t cinnamon
    1/3 c butter
    1 c quick oats
    1/2 c chopped walnuts
    1/2 c currants
    1 large egg, beaten
    1/3 c milk
    coarse sugar to sprinkle on top (opt.)


Makes 8 Scones
Preheat oven to 400.'
Mix dry ingredients together. But in butter. Add oats,walnuts and currants. Combine egg and milk. Add most to flour mixture, but ave a little on the side to use as an egg wash prior to baking. Stir until barely moistened. On a lightly floured surface, pat into a 7" round. Cut into 8 wedges. Brush with egg was and, if desired, sprinkle with coarse sugar.

Bake about 15 minutes, or until golden brown, at 400.
