    * 1 tablespoons olive oil
    * 2 cups 1-inch sliced onions
    * 1/3 cup peeled garlic cloves, (about 12 to 14)
    * 2 bay leaves
    * 2 1/2 teaspoons salt
    * 6 turns fresh black pepper
    * 6 cups chicken stock
    2 cups non fat milk
    2 tbsp whole wheat flour
    * 1 tablespoon minced garlic
    * 1 teaspoon fresh chopped basil
    * 1 teaspoon fresh chopped thyme
    * 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
    * 1 tablespoon finely chopped parsley


carmelize onions with garlic cloves in a pan. When it begins to turn opaque, add the sugar to help it carmelize. Stir in spices, then stir in flour and then milk and chicken stock and bring to a boil. Add parmesan cheese and serve.
