Ingredients

    2-cups canned chickpeas (garbanzo beans)
    1 large potato, boiled and diced
    1 fl oz tamarind juice
    1 small tomato, thinly sliced
    .5 small onion, thinly sliced
    sliced green chillie and chopped cilantro (optional)

    2 oz plain low fat yogurt
    1 tsp sugar

Directions

Drain and rinse the chick peas and boil in1/4-cup water, tamarind juice and seasoning. Boil the potato and dice into small cubed and add to the chickpeas. Take off the heat and cool slightly. Mix together the yogurt and sugar and drizzle over the chaat. Garnish with thinly sliced onions, tomatoes, green chillies (optional) and cilantro. The taste should be tangy and slightly spicy. Makes 4 servings.
