    1/2 cup butter or margarine
    1/2 cup sugar
    1 egg
    1 cup whole wheat flour
    1 cup all-purpose flour
    1 Tbsp baking powder
    1/2 tsp salt
    2/3 cup milk
    3 Tbsp butter
    1/4 cup packed brown sugar
    1 cup peeled pear slices


Preaheat oven to 375. Cream butter and sugar. Add egg. Mix dry ingerdients together. Add dry ingred and milk alternately to butter mixture. Set Aside.

Melt 3 Tbsp butter in bottom of 9 X 9 in pan. Sprinkle brown sugar over top. Arrange pear slices.

Spread batter in pan and bake for 30 - 35 minutes. Remove from oven. Invert pan immediately, but keep pan over cake for several minutes. Remove pan. Serve warm.

Makes 6 servings.

  • Made as directed and it was delicious! 6 servings were huge so I cut the cake into 12. I think next time I will play around with different fruits and substitutions to make it lower in calories :). - 6/24/14

  • This was delicious! I added 3/4 tsp of vanilla, 1/2 t cinnamon, and a pinch of cloves and nutmeg. I used rice milk and Earth Balance Butter to make it dairy free. My husband and son ate it right up! - 1/29/11
