Delicious basic bread machine whole wheat loaf. Good for sandwiches. Delicious basic bread machine whole wheat loaf. Good for sandwiches.
Number of Servings: 12


    2 T. honey
    12 oz warm water
    3 T. Butter or oil
    4 c. whole wheat flour
    1.5 t. salt
    2 t. yeast


Combine wather and honey and stir to dissolve. Add oil (if you choose butter instead, add it after the flour).

Put liquids in the bread machine. Add flour (leaving 1/2 cup out added later if need be0, salt, and yeast. If using butter, add it in 1/2" pieces in the corners.

Cook as for wheat loaf but watch it during first part of kneading. If dough is too blabby or gooey under the paddles add reserved flour a little at a time until the dough makes a firm ball. If not firm....the dough will collapse.

When the loaf is done. Remove the bucket from the machine. Turn the loaf out onto a soft towela dn gently etract the paddles. Wrap the towel around the loaf while it cools for a softer crust and firmer middle (so slicing doesn't mash it). Enjoy.
