Ingredients
Directions
3/4 cup long grain rice1/4 cup red lentils1 cup water1 tsp salt 1/2 pepper1/2 tsp turmeric 2 tbs fresh chopped cilantrooil for frying
Place the rice and lentils in a bowl and pour the warm water over it and allow to soak for 8 hours or overnight.
Drain of excess water and reserve. Place rice/lentils in food process and process until smooth. Return to bowl, added reserved water back and allow to ferment for 24 hours.
When ready to cook, add salt, pepper, turmeric and cilantro. Mix. In non-stick pan, spoon 2 tbs of mixture and spread out with back of spoon into a pancake shape. Allow to brown and gently flip. Brown. Serve while warm. Great with a fruit or vegetable chutney. In India, this is served for breakfast, but I've used them for appetizers also.
