OK black bean barley mushroom soup

Ingredients
3 cups uncooked black beans4 carrots3 onions3 cups raw mushroomsbay leaves2 tsp cumin2 tsp ginger1 Tbsp oregano2 tsp salt1/4 tsp hot cayenne pepper8-12 cups water
Directions
Presoak the dry beans overnight or use alternate method under "Tips." Put in crockpot with plenty of water. Coarsely slice vegetables & add them. Add spices to taste.
If possible, hold off adding barley until about 1 1/2 hrs before dinnertime.
Serve with grated Parmesan or cheddar cheese.
