cookie:6 cups flour2 Tbsp baking powder3 sticks crisco butter flavored all-vegetable shortening, softened1 cup sugar2 eggs1 Tbsp anise extract2 Tbsp anise seedscoating:1 cup sugar1 Tbsp ground cinnamon
sift flour & baking powder. stir in anise seeds
in a larger bowl, cream butter and 1c sugar with a mixer. add extract, then eggs one at a time.
add flour mixture and knead with fingers into a dough. separate into 4 pieces. make each into a ball. one ball at a time, roll out onto a generously floured surface to about 1/4" thick. cut out 2" diameter circles. place on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake in a 350 degree F oven for 12 minutes. dredge in cinnamon sugar while still hot.
repeat with remaining dough.
