Crockpot applesauce

8 medium apples, peeled and cored, cut into chunksjuice of 1/2 lemon, no seeds2 cinnamon sticks (optional)1/2 cup water (can add more if too thick)1 Tbsp brown sugar* (add at end if needed - it depends on the type of apples and how tart you like the applesauce)
Place apples, lemon juice, cinnamon sticks, and water into a slow cooker. Cook on low for 6-8 hours, until apples are falling apart. Taste and add brown sugar (if desired), 1/2 Tbsp at a time until you reach your desired sweetness (1 Tbsp is usually enough). Remove cinnamon sticks (if you used them).
Serve warm, or refrigerate for up to a week. Can also be frozen.
