swiss chard, barley and cannellini bean soup

Ingredients
Swiss Chard, 1 lb., rinsed and drainedOlive Oil, .1/4 cupOnions, raw, 1 cup, chopped Carrots, raw, 1/2 cup, chopped Celery, raw, 1/2 cup, dicedCanned Tomatoes, 1/3 cup with juiceBarley, pearled, raw, .5 cup, cooked for 35 minutes in 5 cups waterBeans, white, 1.5 cup
Directions
makes 4 cups.
Saute onion, carrot, celery and tomatoes until soft in olive oil
Add chard, simmer for 40 minutes
Add beans and barley cook for 2 minutes. Add 2 1/2 cups of the barley water and bring soup to a simmer.
Add salt and pepper to taste.
