I can't believe there is diet soda in this--I'd NEVER know. The hard part is eating just one or two! - 6/2/09

I GOT THIS RECIPE FROM A LIGHT AND HEARTY COOKBOOK BEFORE AND I AM GLAD I HAVE 5 KIDS OR I DEFINITELY WOULD HAVE HAD TO GO FOR SECONDS. INSTEAD OF BUNS THOUGH I SERVED IT WITH A SIDE OF WHITE RICE AND A SMALL SALAD. WE HAD A COMPLPETE MEAL AND NO-ONE WAS STILL "HUNGRY". - 9/9/09

This is great. I'm not sure why we add the diet soda??? ( I used diet 7 Up since that is all I had.) The longer it is cooked the thicker the sauce will be for those who found it too thin. I used Sweet Baby Ray's Original Barbecue sauce. - 11/27/10

I made this using chicken breasts. It was wonderful. If you didn't tell anyone, you couldn't tell that it wasn't pork. I added dijon mustard, worcestershire sauce, red pepper flakes, garlic & salt. I just kept experimenting until the flavor was just right. My husband & son both ate 2 sandwiches - 2/25/10

This was amazing and so, so easy. I added about half a cup of Splenda brown sugar blend and some garlic and cooked it for about 6 hours...amazing. Thank you! - 2/23/11

This recipe was good and easy to make. It felt like it was missing something to both myself and my partner though. We used Diet Dr Pepper instead. Maybe I need to try a different bbq sauce next time. Def good though! :) - 10/17/11

I was excited to try this, but I didn't like it at ALL. It tasted sugary and the sauce was thin. I grew up on Memphis-style pulled pork and was hoping for a true bbq flavor, but this is not it. - 7/1/11

I saw this recipe on another website. It used root beer to cook meat. Onions are optional. When meat is cooked, drain then shred meat. Then you add BBQ sauce (and any other ingredients to make it your own) and let cook for about 1/2 hour more. This will keep sauce frombeing too thin. Enjoy!!!! - 4/17/11

I loved this recipe! We added brown sugar and salt to the sauce after the pork was shredded in it! Delicious! - 2/1/11

Made this tonight from the fix it & forget it cookbook. Couldn't be easier & it was delicious. My 8 year old wants to take it to school in the thermos for his lunch! - 1/30/10

Wow! Super easy and flavorful. I used regular barbeque sauce (no low sodium) and was pleasantly surprised. Even better warmed up the next day! Great for the whole family and smelled amazing. Thanks! - 8/11/09

I have made this for quite a while and also do it with chicken and beef. We love it. Add the coleslaw to the pork when getting ready to eat and add much more flavor. So good! - 7/2/18

I couldn't find low sodium bbq sauce, but it still tastes really good with regular! I've made it three times in the last month! - 1/19/16

You shouldn't drink Diet Soda, much less cook with it. I'll pass on slowly killing myself with chemical beverages. - 3/5/13

Made this for a family get together and everyone loved it. Have a 5 lb pork loin roast (trimmed of fat) in the slow cooker now. Plan on putting the leftovers in the freezer for a night when I'm short on time. - 9/4/12

Overall good, but I did jazz it up a bit with some garlic salt, brown sugar, mustard and ketchup. - 4/15/12
