Directions
1 banana, frozen3.5 cups strawberries, frozen1/2 cup milk1/2 cup cranberry or apple juicepinch salt3 to 6 teaspoons sugar2 to 3 teaspoons lemon juiceA bit of fresh mint, chopped (optional)
This is a great smoothie recipe, based on my favorite cooking mag, Cook's Illustrated.
You can use any kind of fruit you have, and I throw overripe fruit into the freezer regularly just for this purpose.
I created this recipe with strawberries, but I've also made it with various combinations of pear, blueberry, pineapple, and cherries. Any frozen fresh fruit that sounds appealling to you will work. The mint is optional but I thnk it makes it really nice.
Let the frozen fruit thaw just a bit, then throw ALL the ingredients in the blender and let her rip. Great on a summer's day.
