Curried Turnips

Ingredients
Onions, raw, 1 cup, chopped (remove)Garlic, 3 cloves (remove)Ginger Root, 2 tsp (remove)*Peppers, hot chili, red, fresh, 1 pepper (remove)*Cumin seed, 0.5 tsp (remove)*Coriander seed, 0.5 tsp (remove)Salt, 1 tsp (remove)Granulated Sugar, 1 tsp (remove)Olive Oil, 1 tbsp (remove)Turmeric, ground, 0.5 tsp (remove)Turnips, 6 medium (remove)
Directions
Wash and remove the nodes and slice turnips. Put in a sauce pan and add water just enough to cover the turnips, enough for them to cook. Add salt and turmeric. Cover and cook until tender, the water evaporated. Using a potato masher, mash and cream the turnips. In a skillet, heat oil add cumin seeds, corinder seeds, and lightly brown chopped onions. Add ginger, garlic and hot pepper. Mix it with mashed turnips. Serve it hot with naan bread. ...makes an interesting side dish.

    Alright, but I won't bother again. Flavors don't go with turnip, and too much onion. - 1/14/12
