Tomato Garbanzo Curry Sauce

1 28 oz. can diced tomatoes1 15 oz. can garbanzo beans2 cloves garlic1 Tb ghee1 Tb yellow curry powder (I used hot madras curry)1 Tb ground cumin1 tsp ground turmeric1 tsp ground cinnamon1/4 tsp ground cardamom1 to 2 tsp ground cayenne peppersea salt to taste (not included in sodium count)
In a sauce pan, melt ghee on medium heat and add crushed garlic. Simmer for 2 minutes. Add diced tomatoes and garbanzo beans. Use a potato masher to mash the beans into the tomatoes (doesn't have to be completely mashed, just break up most of the beans). Add the rest of the spices and lower heat to medium low. Simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
