Pasta Primavera with Farfalle (Bowtie) Pasta

1 small onion, sliced thin5-6 cloves garlic, smashed2 tbsp olive oil1 carrot, sliced into thin 2" sticks1 zucchini, sliced into thin 2" sticks12 spears thin asparagus, woody parts removed, 2" long2 kumato tomato (or any small tomato), chopped1/4 c frozen peasFresh basil, about 20 leaves, sliced thin1 lb package Farfalle (bowtie) pasta, or penne if you prefer
Cook pasta in salted water, about 10 minutes. While the pasta is cooking, begin the primavera sauce.
Heat olive oil and saute garlic and onions until slightly transparent, about 2 minutes, over medium heat. Toss in carrots and saute another 2 minutes. Add in zuchinni, asparagus, and tomatoes and cook another 2 minutes. Toss in 1 cup of pasta water, frozen peas, red pepper flakes, and stir 1 minute. Toss in drained farfalle and fresh basil, adding more pasta water to moisten as needed.
Add salt and pepper to taste, and serve immediately.
