Traditional English Madeira Cake

Ingredients
1 c flour3/4 c butter3/4 c granulated sugar1 tsp baking powder3 eggszest of half a lemon2 tbsp milk
Directions
Preheat oven to 350'F

Sift flour and baking powder together.

Cream butter, zest, and sugar together until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, alternating with 2 tbsp of the flour mixture. Slowly add the remaining flour, beating gently. Beat the milk into the batter.

Pour batter into a greased 9" pan. Bake for 30 minutes. Let stand in pan for 10 minutes, and then turn out onto a cooling rack.
