Potatoes Dauphin

Ingredients
2 lbs potatoes, sliced thin1 3/4 cup heavy whipping cream.25 lb. Gruyere cheese3 garlic cloves, sliced
Directions
Preheat oven to 350. Butter a casserole dish. Heat heavy cream and garlic over low heat and keep warm. Place one layer of potato slices on bottom of dish, slightly overlapping. Salt and pepper. Cover with cream. Repeat until no potatoes remain. If necessary add some whole milk until it just peeks above the edges of the potatoes. Sprinkle cheese on top. Bake 45 minutes.
