Candy-Gram's Sour Cream Sugar Cookies

Granulated Sugar, 1 cup *Shortening, Crisco, 8 tbsp Egg, fresh, 1 large Sour Cream, 1 cup Baking Powder, 1 tsp Baking Soda, 1 Vanilla Extract, 1 tsp *Flour, white, 3 cup Additional Sugar for topping the cookies
Mix ingredients well and refrigerate covered, overnight. The next day, heat oven to 375 degrees. Roll out dough to slightly more than 1/4 inch, flouring lightly to prevent sticking. Use a glass to cut out circles, place on a cookie sheet. Sprinkle with additional sugar on tray. Bake 8 minutes and then check. Continue baking till edges are just starting to brown. Cookies will puff up as they bake. Loosen from tray as soon as they come out of the oven, but allow to cool on the cookie sheet for several minutes before removing to cooling trays. Store in a sealed container. Makes 3 dozen cookies.
