Shellie's taco shell casserole

1 lb of lean ground beef (90/10)1 small chopped onion1 cup of picante sauce1 can (4oz) Diced green chiles12 yellow taco shells (break the shells into small pieces)1 package of taco seasoning3/4 cup of water2 cups of 2% shredded cheddar (use 2 one cup servings)
cook ground beef bell peppers, and onions and drain fat if any. Stir in taco sauce, water, chiles, and taco seasoning. Cook covered on low heat for about 4 minutes.
Layer 1/2 of the broken shells on the bottom of your dish. Then 1/2 your meat mixture and 1 cup of cheese. Repeat layering with remaining ingredients. Bake for 20-25 minutes.
Serving Size: Divide casserole into 8 equal pieces
