Kate's Ginger & Garlic Split Pea Soup

Ingredients
5 c chicken broth1 bag dry split peas~1 c. chopped carrots~1 c. chopped celery2 chopped onionschopped garlic, to taste (I like a lot!)peeled, sliced ginger root, to taste (again, I go for a lot!)
Directions
You can do this on the stove, sautee-ing carrots, celery, onions, garlic and ginger for a bit, then adding broth and peas, OR just throw everything in a crock pot on high for a couple hours. Give it a good stir now and then. Add salt and/or pepper to taste. Enjoy! The massive servings really fill you up w/o the calories! Makes about five 2-cup servings.
