2.5 - 3 lbs fresh string beans4 slices bacon1tbsp sugarsalt & pepperwater
Snap string beans and remove strings. Rinse well, and put into large cooking pot.
Add bacon, sugar, and salt and pepper to taste.
Add enough water so the beans are about 3/4 covered. Cook on high until they come to a boil, then reduce heat to low/simmer. Simmer for 3-4 hours, stirring occasionally, or until most of he water has cooked away.
