Gingered Steak Satay with Jasmine Rice with Kiwi & Star Fruit

½ lb flank steak2 cloves garlic, chopped1 small chili pepper, seeded and chopped½ small onion, finely chopped1½ teaspoons grated fresh ginger root1½ tablespoons lime juice1 tablespoon low sodium soy sauce1 tablespoon olive oil½ teaspoon salt1 package 6-inch bamboo skewers½ cup brown Jasmine rice---------------------------------------------------------------2 kiwi fruit, peeled and sliced2 star fruit, sliced crosswise
Cut steak across grain into long thin strips,
about ¼ inch thick and 1 inch wide. Combine
garlic, chili pepper, onion, ginger, lime juice, soy
sauce, olive oil and salt in a large zip-top bag.
Add meat and marinate 2 hours or overnight.
Soak skewers in water while meat is
marinating. Weave one meat strip onto each
bamboo skewer. Preheat broiler to high heat.
When broiler is ready, place skewers on a
broiler rack. Cook 5 minutes or until done. Cook
Jasmine rice according to package directions,
and serve beef over rice.
