first make the dumplings by mixing the plain flour, pinch of salt, cornmeal and water together until it resembles dough. tear small golf ball size pieces of and roll into balls, flatten slightly and put to one side. Continue untill all the dough has gone.
Put all the water into a large pan and bring to the boil. Add the sachet of chicken noodle mix, the can of veg soup, and the dumplings. Cook for approximately 1 hour, stirring every so often so that the dumplings dont stick to the bottom.
Then peel and cube the sweet potatoes, yam and normal potatoes and add to the pot. Grate and chop the carrots and add them too.
Taste, and if need be add pinch of salt until you get the taste you want. Continue to cook for about another 2/3 hours. Just before its ready add some thyme.
Serving Size: easily makes 20 servings of about 350ml each
