Lighter Chocolate Bread Pudding
- Number of Servings: 6
Ingredients
Directions
2 cups 2% milk1/2 cup sugar1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips1 large egg1 teaspoon vanilla extract4 oz french bread, cut into 1/2" cubes
Note: the less fat, the less tasty and the less firm the finished product will be. Using less than 2% results in a runny finished desert.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Bring milk to a simmer. Take pot off heat. Add sugar and whisk until dissolved. Add chocolate chips and whisk until melted and blended well. Let cool while:
Whisk egg until well blended. Add vanilla and whisk. While whisking continuously, add chocolate mix in a fine stream. Add bread and mix.
Pour into a 9" x 9" x 2" pan. Sprinkle the remaining 2 T sugar on the top. This will make a crunchy top. Bake until the center is just firm, about 50 minutes. Serve warm.
