Brennyren's Pasta Primavera

*1/2 pound green beans, cut and trimmed into 1/2 inch pieces*2 cups yellow squash*1 cup fresh (or thawed frozen) peas*1/3 cup olive oil*1 glove garlic, crushed, peeled, and finely minced*1 medium onion (about 1/2 pound), thinly sliced*2 medium tomatoes, cut into pieces*1 pound whole-wheat rotini or other shaped pasta*1/4 cup fresh basil, or 1 TBS dried basil
1. Plunge the green beans into a large pot of boiling salted water and cook until soft (about 5 to 7 minutes). Remove to a large mixing bowl with a slotted spoon. Repeat this procedure with the squash and the peas. Set aside.
2. In a large saute pan, heat the oil over moderate heat. Add the garlic and the onions. Cook over moderately low heat until very soft, about 15 minutes. Add tomatoes and continue to cook for about 5 minutes. Drain any water that has accumulated from the cooked vegetables and add vegetables to the saute pan to heat, stirring frequently.
3. In a large pot of boiling water, cook pasta until tender. In a large bowl, toss pasta, basil, and vegetables to mix well.
4. Season to taste with ground pepper and/or parmesan cheese.
Makes 6 2-cup servings.
