Ingredients
1 c cornmeal1 c flour1/4 c sugar4 t baking powder1/2 t salt1 c milk1 egg1/4 c shortening
Directions
Combine cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Add milk, egg, and shortening. Mix until fairly smooth. Pour into pie pan or 8" square pan and bake in pre-heated oven at 425 F for 20-25 minutes. Makes 8 large servings or 12 medium.

    Good basic cornbread. I thought I was going to have to enter the recipe myself, but this one is almost exactly like the one from the cornmeal bag I used. Mine had 2 Tablespoons of Baking powder and it made 9 muffin servings, but it is close enough for me. - 3/1/09
