6 cups white flour, or 3 each of whole wheat and white + 1/2- 1 cup white to roll it out with2 packets yeast, or 4-1/2 tsp1/3 cup sugar1 tsp. salt1 stick butter2 eggs2 cups milk1 recipe for Runza cabbage meat pockets if making runzas
In mixing bowl combine 3 cups flour, yeast, sugar and salt. In a saucepan melt butter. Add 2 cups milk and heat to lukewarm(105*). Pour liquid into dry mixture. Beat with mixer until a batter is formed. Add eggs, one at a time. Add more flour. Turn out on floured surface and knead by hand until soft dough is formed. Let rest 20 minutes for easy handling. Flour surface and roll out 2/3 of dough to make runzas. Cut into 16 squares, and add some meat mixture in center of each square. Fold dough around mixture and pinch to seal. Place on greased cookie sheet and let raise in a warm place for about 25 mins. Bake in a 350* oven for 20-25 mins. Makes 16 squares + extra dough that can be made into cinnamon twists with a little belted butter and cinnamon sugar, or little mini cinnamon rolls if you have a mini muffin tin.
