Chard & chickpeas

Ingredients
1 onion3 garlic cloves1.5 Tbsp sesame oil1 cup chopped tomato2 cups chickpeas1/2 tsp salt1/2 tsp black pepper4 cups chopped chard1 tsp dried chilis (optional)
Directions
Saute chopped onion and chard stems in sesame oil over medium heat until onion is transluscent. Add tomatoes, chickpeas, salt, pepper, and chilis (if using). Let simmer for about 5 minutes. Cover with chopped chard, cover the pot with a lid and simmer for 3 or 4 minutes. Then sitr chard into the lower layer and simmer another 2 minutes.

Delicious on pasta or rice.

    I added a can of stock and some orzo before the tomatoes. Needed more seasoning in my opinion. But once I jazzed it up it was delicious! - 1/25/08
