Ingredients
Directions
2 lbs. *Ground Beef 93% Lean, (32 oz )Tomato Sauce, with onions, green peppers, and celery, 1 can, 15 oz 2 cans Tomato Soup, (10.75 oz) Brown Sugar, 2 tbsp unpackedGarlic, 3 tsp chopped2tsp. Onion Powder2tsp. Garlic Powder1/4tsp. Nutmeg
Makes approximately 16- 1/2 cup servings.
In a large saucepan or chicken fryer (about 5 quart) Brown Ground Beef sprinkled with chopped garlic , you may drain if you wish (usually there is little fat - only juice with the lean variety of beef.) You can reduce the liquid by pushing the meat to one side of the pan and tilting the pan so that the liquid is over the heat & can evaporate a little.
Season if you wish with garlic powder and onion powder, & nutmeg. I always do - The spices ARE counted in the calorie and carb info.)
Add the sauce and the tomato soup. Bring to a boil stirring frequently. Cover reduce heat and simmer on medium heat - stirring often. If the sauce needs to thicken remove cover for the last 10 minutes or so. They are supposed to be loose but not watery.
For a semi- hands free cooking brown meat and then add to a crock pot and cook for 5-6 hours.
