Chocolate Chip Scone

Ingredients
2 C Unbleached All Purpose Flour1/3 C plus 2 Tbsp Sugar1 tsp Baking Powder1/2 tsp Baking Soda1/2 tsp Salt6 Tbsp (3/4 stick) Blue Bonnet, chilled, diced3/4 C Miniature Sem-Sweet Chocolate Chips3/4 C Buttermilk, chilled1 Large Egg Yolk1 tsp Vanilla ExtractFor Glaze: (not included in nutrition info listed)1 1/2 C Powdered Sugar4 Tbsp Whipping Cream or Milk
Directions
Butter and Flour baking sheet. Sift 2 C flour, 1/3 C sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt into large bowl. Add butter; rub in with fingertips until butter is reduced to size of rice grains. Mix in chocolate chips. Whisk buttermilk, egg yolk and vanilla in small bowl to blend. Add buttermilk mixture to dry ingredients; mix until dough comes together in moist clumps. Gather dough into ball. Press dough out on lightly floured surface to two 4-inch rounds; cut round into 4 wedges. Transfer wedges to prepared baking sheet, spacing 1 inch apart. (can be prepared 1 day ahead. Cover and refrigerate.)

Preheat oven to 400. Brush scones lightly with milk; sprinkle with remaining 2 Tbsp sugar. Bake until scones are crusty on top and tester inserted into center comes out clean, about 20 minutes. Serve warm.

Can add glaze by mixing powdered sugar and whipping cream or milk and pouring over top of cooled scones and letting set.
