German Lentil Soup

1 1/2 cup dried lentils4 bacon slices (or ham or sausage)1 chopped leak1/2 cup chopped onion3/4 cup chopped green pepper1 chopped carrot1 can diced tomatoes3 tablespoons butter3 tablespoons flour2 cups broth2 tablespoons vinegarsalt to tastesour cream
Cook lentils in 5 cups cold water, bring to a boil than simmer for about an hour.
Cook cut up bacon and veggies in frying pan over low heat for about five minutes, then add to cooked lentils.
Melt butter in empty frying pan and add flour, stirring till blended. Stir in broth and vinegar (and salt to taste). Bring to a boil. Pour roux over lentil mixture. Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, about 30 minutes.
Serve with a dollop of sour cream.
