Red Bean & Sausage & Rice Soup

Ingredients
2 garlic cloves1 medium onion, chopped1 celery stalk, chopped1 medium green pepper, chopped1 15 oz. can kidney beans, rinsed and drained1 14 1/2 oz. can diced tomatoes, undrained16 oz. smoked sausage1/4 tsp dried thyme1/4 tsp black pepper1 tsp salt6 c. chicken broth1 c. uncooked white rice, converted variety
Directions
Combine all ingredients in slow cooker; set on high and cook for 4 hours. about 2 c. per serving.

You can kick it up with cayenne or red pepper flakes.
