Slow Cooker Merlot Beef Stew

1 lb. lean beef stew1 cup sliced yellow onion3 cups whole baby carrots3 unpeeled, chopped medium red potatoes2 cups chopped cauliflower1/3 cup Merlot sauce1 basil leaf1/3 cup water
Spray slow cooker for easy clean up.
Place potatoes, then beef, onions, carrots and cauliflower layered in the slow cooker. Combine Merlot sauce and water with bay leaf and pour over meat and vegetables. Turn slow cooker on low.
Stir only once during the cooking process. Should be ready in about 4 hours. Pierce potatoes and carrots to test readiness. Remove bay leaf. Unplug 30 minutes before serving to let juices settle.
