Easy, Yummy Hummus!

Ingredients
Ingredients:1 16 oz can of chickpeas or garbanzo beans1/4 cup liquid from can of chickpeas1/4 cup lemon juice2-6 cloves garlic (depending upon taste), crushed1 1/2 tablespoons tahini2 tablespoons olive oil1/2 teaspoon salt
Directions
1. Drain chickpeas, but save 1/4 cup of the liquid from chickpea can.

2. Combine all ingredients in bowl.

3. Blend for a few minutes until thoroughly mixed and smooth.

4. Garnish with parsley if you would like.

5. Serve with warm or toasted whole wheat pita bread, or cover tightly and refrigerate!

If you're a little more carb conscious, you can also serve hummus with vegetables like cucumbers or red peppers - and voila! You have a super-tasty, healthy snack!

    Making your own hummus is certainly tasty and cost effective. I have found that if you decide to eliminate the tahini, it does save on some cost tool. It doesn't change the taste too much. I also go toward the high end of adding garlic too! Thanks for sharing. - 3/4/10
