Beef Bourguignon modified from Betty Crocker

Ingredients
2 Tablespoons shortening5 medium onions, sliced2 pounds beef round, cut inot 1" cubes1/4 teaspoon marjoram leaves1/4 teaspoon thyme leaves1/8 teaspoon pepper1.5 tablespoons flour2 cups beef broth2 cups Burgundy wine
Directions
Melt shortening in large skillet and brown meat. Add onions; cook and stir until onions are tender. Sprinkle seasonings over meat. Mix flour and broth; stir into skillet. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Boil and stir 1 minute. Stir in wine. Cover and simmer for 2 hours or until meat is tender. Note: The liquid should always just cover the meat. if necessary add more broth and wine--1 part broth to 2 parts wine. Makes 6 servings.
