delicious! I had never cooked with pearled barley before, and I loved it. this might replace my oatmeal for breakfast. the only change I made was to add some almond extract - it gave it a little extra something. i will definitely make this again - huge filling breakfast! - 10/21/07

Loved it! I subbed diced apple for the applesauce because I had some I needed to use up. I think 1 cup less water would make it perfect and a tsp. of cinnamon is a must! Delicious and filling! - 8/19/14

I live in Korea and bought barley thinking I was buying oats, but WOW! Made this for breakfast and it was DELICIOUS! I sprinkled some cinnamon on top and it was great. I would half the recipe next time as there are only two in my home, but a definite keeper and very filling. - 10/17/12

This was filling, and I don't even think I had a full serving! I did add some pecans and cinnamon to my bowl to spruce it up a bit. If I make it again, I'll use less water (it was a lot like soup). - 5/24/11

I made this on the stovetop. I love the flavor, but will add less water next time, maybe only 4 cups. I added some cinnamon. Delicious. Thanks for the recipe! - 1/25/11

Very delicious and easy to make. I made the stove-top version as I don't have a rice cooker and it turned out beautifully! Thanks for this great recipe. - 7/8/08
