Bean Burgers

Ingredients
Directions
1 small onion,chopped1 clove garlic1 16-oz can beans (refried black beans, Kidney beans, etc)1/2 cup whole rolled oats, uncooked1/2 cup cooked brown rice1-2 ts chopped chipotles (from canned)1 Tb tomato paste or 2 Tb Ketchup1/2 ts salt1/4 ts oregano1/4 ts thyme(Original recipe includes 1/8 cup flour, but I didn't use, and nutrition facts here don't include this)
Put all ingredients in a food processor, except onions. Process til almost smooth, then add onions til coarsely combined.
Bake on a oiled pan/baking stone at 425 F for about 15 min. When bottoms are lightly browned, turn over and cook for 10-15 more mins. Don't overcook! OR, you can cook in a nonstick pan on stovetop, OR over the grill/fire.
This is from the Fat Free Vegan. It can be changed easily by using different beans (Kidney, etc), and different seasonings (smoke flavoring vs the chipotles). They can be frozen too, after cooking (or before), then taken out for a quick meal, instead of a Boca burger.

Made them but only used kidney beans. I omitted the tomato paste and ketchup and put some cut up fresh tomatoes instead also added corn and red peppers and diced zuccini and celery and onions too. Plus the seasoning. Put it all in the blender added rolled oats and cooked in non stick pan - 7/31/10
