Ingredients
.25 C melted butter1.5 C dry steel-cut oats (or any other variety; reduce cooking time accordingly)1 C soured raw milk (if improvising, mix some yogurt or other fermented product in with milk to make 1 C - or use straight yogurt/kefir/etc. - so that the grains experience some fermentation, which aids in digestion)1 jumbo egg1 t baking soda1 t cinnamon.5 t salt.5 C raisins (not packed; may sub other dried fruit)
Directions
Mix all together and allow to sit in warm area for an hour or two. Make bake immediately afterwards, or cover and refrigerate overnight and then bake the next morning. Bake at 350 degrees 30-60 minutes, depending on how long it takes the oats to cook. (The longer the ingredients soak in a warm place, the shorter the cooking time. However, if you wish to greatly lengthen the soaking time, you may wish to add the egg near the end of soaking, since raw egg in fermenting batter may not be the best idea....) Serving suggestions: serve with warm milk, honey, a glaze, or nut butter on top.
