Ingredients
Directions
2 c. all purpose flour1 T. baking powder1 t. salt1/3 c. shortening1 c. bottled water
Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.
Combine dry ingredients then cut in shortening.
Add 3/4 cup of the liquid using more only if needed to incorporate the flour.
Knead dough several times on a lightly floured surface. (Don't miss this step or your biscuits won't rise well, regardless of what you have been told)
Flatten dough by hand and cut 10 biscuits using a sharp cutter. Reassemble and re-flatten left over dough until all is used. It will still raise beautifully unless you overdo, and so far, I haven't ever over done the dough and the biscuits raise by 3 times! Place biscuits close but not touching on a cookie sheet.
After baking 10 minutes, tent with aluminum foil if browning too quickly.
serve at once but remember portion control!
