Parmesan Rice Pilaf

1 tablespoon olive oil2 tablespoons finely diced onion1/4 cup finely broken thin spaghetti (vermicelli) - 1oz1 cup long grain white rice (uncooked)2-1/2 cups of chicken broth1/4 teaspoon pepper2 tablespoons grated parmesan
In a medium saucepan, brown broken pasta and onion over medium heat. Add remaining ingredients except parmesan cheese. Stir well. Bring to a boil. Simmer covered on low for approximately 20 minutes until broth is absorbed and rice is tender. Sprinkle with cheese.
