Crunch - Topped Spice Cake

1/4 cup softened butter1/4 cup low-fat cream cheese, softened1/3 cup brown sugar1 egg1 tbsp vanilla1 cup whole wheat flour1/2 cup all purpose flour1/4 tsp salt1/2 tbsp baking powder1 tsp baking soda1 tbsp cinnamon1 tsp allspice1/4 tsp black pepper2 tbsp ground flaxseed1 cup buttermilk2 tbsp crunchy granola
Preheat oven to 350F, grease a 9" square pan.
In a bowl, cream together butter, cheese, sugar, egg and vanilla.
Stir in the dry ingredients, followed by the buttermilk, until a thick, smooth batter is formed.
Spread in the prepared pan and top with granola.
Bake 40-45 minutes, until tests done. Cool completely in the pan.
