1and 1/2 cup black gram whole lentils. 1/2 cup tomato puree, salt to taste, 1 tblsp ginger, 1 tblsp garlic paste, 1tspn red chilli powder, 1/2 tblspn butter, 1/2 tblspn fresh ginger, 1 inch pc ginger julienne
Clean, wash and sock lentils in 3/4 cups water for 6 to eight hours. Drain, place in a thick bottomed vessel, add salt and four cups water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and cover and cook on low heat until lents are almost done and half of the liquid has evaporated. Add ginger-garlic paster, stir and mash the lentils lightly using a spoon. Add tomato puree, red chilli powder and half tablespoon of white butter and continue to cook for another 6 to 8 minutes. Add fresh creeam and cook further for 10 minutes. Serve hot with brown bread.
