Nasi Goreng
- Number of Servings: 4
Ingredients
Directions
1 tbsp olive oil1/2 lb of ground beef1/2 of a medium onion, chopped1 c of rice1 pkg of Conimex Nasi Goreng Mix
Boil the rice in 2 cups of water on high. Keep the cover on the pot until boiling, then remove the lid and turn the heat down to a rapid simmer.
Brown the beef and onion in a frying pan in the olive oil until no pink remains in the beef. Add a little less than a 1/4 cup of water and then the Nasi Mix. Stir to mix. Keep on low heat with the lid on the pan until the rice is done. Add the rice to the beef and stir. Put the lid on and allow to stand for a few minutes.
Serve hot with fried eggs on the side and a tossed salad. Count the nutrition info for the eggs and salad seperately.
Serves 3-4.
Note: Kids usually like ketchup mixed into Nasi.
The nutrition info is for the instructions above (serving 4).
Some variations could be:
-substitute chicken for beef.
-add a 1/4 lb of bacon and fry with the onion and beef/chicken for extra flavour
-add the eggs to the beef/chicken when you add the Nasi mix rather than serving seperately.
-add a leek to the onions and beef/chicken.
-you can make the recipe with up to a 1lb of beef/chicken and 3 cups of rice to make a larger meal still using 1 Nasi mix package. You may want to use a whole onion for that and 2 tbsp of olive oil.
-some people like pickles on the side as well.
