shirley's homemade Tomato soup

4 pounds of tomatoes on the vine4 cups asparagus1 cup chopped onion1 cup low fat cream cheesehalf a clove of garlic2 tsps olive oil
chop onion and garlic and saute in the 2 tsps olive oil until golden brown.
In a food processor or blender puree the tomatoes and asparagus and add onion and garlic when done. This can be done in stages. You can add the broth if the aspragus will not blend well.
Place remaining broth if you had to use some for blending into a pan. Heat for 30 min. Add pepper and salt to taste.
After soup has been boiling for 30 min. add cream cheese in pieces and whip to thicken. This won't get too thick but it will add a little thickness.
